CELINE DION'S NEW VEGAS RESIDENCY

Celine Dion has signed a multi-million dollar deal for a new three year residency in Las Vegas.

Celine Dion has signed up for a new three year residency in Las Vegas.
The 'Think Twice' singer will perform 70 shows a year for the next three years, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace after signing a multi-million dollar deal.
Celine said: "It's happening! Great songs, great lyrics. I think it's going to be very touching."
The Canadian songstress will be backed by 31 musicians for the shows, which include a special section where she performs songs from people's favourite movies.
Celine added the set will feature: "All the songs from my repertoire that people want to hear, And I just love the big orchestra and the beautiful black-and-white movies and romance."
Celine most recently finished a five year run of shows at the same venue in 2007.
The singer's announcement comes a day after Barbra Streisland turned down a £100 million offer to appear in the desert city.
Celine said she is to juggle the performances with caring for her 9-year-old son Rene-Charles by her husband and manager Rene Angelil, and the couple are presently trying to get pregnant for a second baby.
Celine's last run of concerts grossed more than $400 million.
The 'My Heart Will Go On' singer will start the residency in March next year.

CELINE OVERWHELMED BY GRAMMYS JACKSON TRIBUTE

CELINE DION was honoured to be part of the MICHAEL JACKSON tribute at the Grammy Awards - because she dreamed of performing with the King of Pop as a child.

The Canadian singer admits her love for the Thriller hitmaker drove her to perfect her English, just in case she got to chance to team up with her idol - and performing with his voice at the Grammys was an overwhelming experience.

Dion joined Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson for an emotional, show-stopping tribute to the late star - the quintet performed Jackson's Earth Song as the video to the song was shown in 3-D on a massive screen behind them.

And the I Drove All Night singer admits it was a "difficult" performance for her because she wanted Jackson to be there.
She says, "I was mad that he (Jackson) was no longer with us and I wanted so much to make sure that his message... was going to be heard.
"All of us, we didn't really want to perform; we just wanted to carry his message. I was very honoured that I was part of it. I will always love Michael Jackson very much."
And Dion admits the King of Pop's concert rehearsal film This Is It enraged her - because it made her realise she'll never get the chance to see the actual show. Jackson died a month before his comeback concerts in London were due to start.
She adds, "I thought at one point that Michael was sick and I said, 'Y'know, it's not fair to go through this, being sick like that,' but when I saw the movie I was very mad because he was in top shape and I was very mad that he was no longer with us."

CELINE PLANS SPECIAL KEEPSAKE TREAT FOR SON

CELINE DION has special plans to turn her son RENE CHARLES' collection of leaves and flowers into keepsake jewellery after learning about a group of Quebec, Canada nuns who have perfected the art of drying dead foliage and turning it into rosary beads.
The singer first came across the nuns when she was trying to find something to do with the flowers people sent to her when her father died - and that has given her the idea to turn her son's boxes of stuff into something extraordinary.
She explains, "When my dad passed away people sent a lot of flowers and we were very touched by that and then it's a shame... because you put the flowers (on display) and then they die and then that's it.
"But, in the province of Quebec, I've learned that there's... nuns, who are having a technique (sic); they take the flowers that you have received... they make it dry... they make rosary beads with (them).
"And my whole family received rosary beads made of the flowers that people gave to my dad.
"I don't know when I'm gonna do... this, but eventually I will make something for my son... to say, 'Everything that you have given papa tu mama (sic), here it is.'"
Dion appeared on America's Oprah Winfrey show on Wednesday (10Feb10) and talked about her special relationship with her only child, who had filmed a special video for the singer.
A thrilled Dion told host Winfrey that her current five-day promotional trip was the longest time she had spent away from her son.

She's now confirmed she will be heading back to Las Vegas to launch her new performance at the Caesars Palace theatre, which was originally built for her A New Day... shows.
