CELINE DION'S WATER PARK ROW

Celine Dion has reportedly infuriated her neighbours over plans to build a water park in the grounds of her home.

Celine Dion has upset neighbours over plans to build a water park in her home.
The 41-year-old singer has reportedly enraged local residents who are less than impressed with her vision for the new addition to her $12.5 million property.
A source said: "There will be two giant pools, several waterslides and a lazy river, much like an amusement park."
While Celine's eight-year-old son Rene-Charles and the rest of her extended family might be happy, some of the neighbours have made it quite clear they're not happy with her plans.
A local resident told the National Enquirer magazine: "It's totally distasteful and demeans the whole area. I don't know how she got the well permits in there either, because the town is usually pretty restrictive with stuff like that."

CELINE DION'S BOY CUTS HIS LONG HAIR FOR SCHOOL

RC's new look! Scan from Paris Match magazine

CELINE DION has finally won her battle to cut her son RENE CHARLES' hair - because his school wouldn't allow him to sport long locks.
The singer admits she was quite relieved when she learned the boy had to have a drastic haircut before he could sign up for lessons at a posh new school - because she'd been trying to persuade him to trim his mane for years.
She says, "I miss his hair but when he started school, it was a rule of school. I said, 'Listen R.C., you know doctors, they have rules, they have uniforms and they have to wash their hands for their surgery... It's a rule, you have to do that... There's a rule in school that you have to cut your hair short... If you want to go to that school, you have to cut the hair.'"
Dion tells TV news show Access Hollywood she kept a ponytail of her son's long hair, so she'd have a special keepsake of his youth.

CELINE READY TO TRY FOR SECOND CHILD

CELINE DION has spoken out for the first time after learning her recent in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) was unsuccessful, insisting she's feeling "strong" and ready for another attempt at having a baby.

In August (09), the Canadian superstar, 41, announced she was expecting her second child after having embryos implanted in her womb, but her husband Rene Angelil confirmed in November (09) that she was no longer pregnant.
However, the My Heart Will Go On singer is refusing to feel "depressed" by the loss - she's already making plans to return to the same doctors in New York to undergo the process once more.

She tells Access Hollywood, "I feel strong and, honestly, we're very blessed. We have a wonderful child, we're extremely happy. It's not like, 'Oh my god, she's not pregnant and she's depressed.' You know how it works. We are great.
We hope for the best, we hope to get pregnant.
If it happens, it happens... We are going back to the same people, the same doctor in New York."
And Celine Dion admits her eight-year-old son Rene-Charles is also hoping for a little brother or sister.
She adds, "When we announced to him that we were pregnant and then it didn't work out, he said, 'Wasn't it supposed to be 100 per cent sure?' I said, 'It was 100 per cent, but it's nature and it didn't work out.' And he was looking at me and he said, 'Are you going to try again?' I said, 'Yeah, we are going to try again.'
He knows exactly what we are doing, so he's great."

JONAS BROTHERS EYE DION DUET

The JONAS BROTHERS have named their dream collaborator - the pop trio wants to work with CELINE DION.
The singing siblings are big fans of the Canadian star and hope to one day head into the studio with her.
Nick Jonas tells Digital Spy, "She's amazing. I like her song A New Day Has Come the best. That or the one from Titanic."
And Kevin is adamant the age gap between the 41 year old and the young band wouldn't make a difference.
He adds, "She's got the best voice ever. Actually, I think her presence is so incredible and so passionate that it wouldn't even matter. Her voice and her artistry would just cut through it all."

CULVER CITY, Calif., December 3, 2009 - Celine Dion, the international superstar and best-selling female artist of all time, has toured around the world and back again, and now, Sony Pictures Releasing's special programming division, The Hot Ticket, will let audiences follow her everywhere. For a limited engagement beginning early next year in wide release, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World will bring Celine Dion's 2008-2009 Taking Chances World Tour to theaters. This special motion picture event gives Dion fans who attended the extremely popular tour - which placed Dion second only to Madonna in ticket sales in 2008 - another chance to experience the magical event, this time from a vantage point unparalleled by any ticket.

Join Celine as she travels to five continents and 25 countries, putting on show-stopping performances of some of her biggest hits. However, this world tour is different as Celine is traveling with her husband, her 8-year-old son, her mother, and her extended family. Intercutting concert performances with behind the scenes footage, audiences will get the chance to really know Celine, her family, and her co-performers as well as those fans that she meets and performs for around the world. Inspirational, moving, honest and surprisingly funny, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World captures Dion's deft balance between the demands of an elaborate and extensive year-long worldwide tour and Dion's top priority - caring for and enjoying time with her family.

Commenting on the announcement, Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing, said, "Celine Dion is a beloved performer all around the world and early next year, The Hot Ticket will offer fans a front row seat as she performs on stage her most recognized hits. Through this special film, audiences will also see Celine as they have never seen before as she travels and interacts with her family and creative collaborators while touring extraordinary and exotic locations around the globe. We believe Celine: Through the Eyes of the World offers a unique perspective on Celine, her life, and her inspiring dedication to creating a stage experience like no other."

Celine added, "This was an amazing world tour, but there's a lot more than just concert footage on this film. I let the cameras follow me everywhere. There are a lot of ups and downs, and it's very personal...and it's definitely the most intimate journey that I've ever shared with my fans."

Having sold more than 200 million albums around the world, Celine Dion is one of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop music history. During her spectacular career Celine has been honored with over 1000 awards. She is a 5 time Grammy Award winner, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for Falling Into You (1996); and Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "My Heart Will Go On" (1998). In 2004, Celine received the Diamond award at the World Music Awards recognizing her status as the best-selling female artist of all time. In 2007 she was honored with the Legend Award at World Music Awards in recognition of her global success and outstanding contribution to the music industry.

On her Taking Chances World Tour, which took place between February 2008 and February 2009, Dion played concerts in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, the UK, Belgium, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Italy, Monaco, Canada, Mexico, and 41 cities in the United States. The 5-continent, 25-country, 93-city tour - Dion's first in nine years - was wildly successful, selling over three million tickets.

Stephane Laporte, director of the film, added, "After touring the world with Celine, I can say confidently that there is no performer anywhere like her. She is a consummate entertainer - not only was she committed to giving the fans who came to the shows the best performances she could, but she was just as committed to this film, to make it entertaining and give some insight into what it's like to be on the road for a year with one's family. This is Celine's world and it's a wonderful experience to live in it and be a part of it."

The Hot Ticket also recently announced plans to present Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D in movie theaters this April. Celine: Through the Eyes of the World extends the division's commitment to bringing audiences premium alternative content experiences to theaters with state of the art audio and visual capabilities. CELINE DION'S FAMILY VOW

Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil has spoken out about their struggles to conceive another child, insisting they will continue to undergo fertility treatment.

Celine Dion has vowed to keep trying for another baby.
The 41-year-old singer and her husband Rene Angelil, 67, were told by doctors in August she was pregnant after undergoing a course of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, but days later were told it hadn't worked.
Despite more subsequent attempts at the treatment, Celine and Rene are refusing to give up hope of having a sibling for eight-year-old son Rene-Charles.
Rene said: "Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn't the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked.
"We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use IVF. The process can be long and arduous.
"But today, we are full of confidence. Celine is more determined than ever. She doesn't let go."
The couple - who conceived Rene-Charles after fertility treatment - are now preparing for another course of treatment in New York this weekend.
Rene added to Canada's Journal de Montreal newspaper: "I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests.
"Celine and I didn't get discouraged ... we put our faith in life and in the stars."

sad news: Celine Dion has miscarriage

This is not the type of baby news we like to deliver: Céline Dion is no longer pregnant.
Last August, the golden-piped songbird and husband René Angélil confirmed that she was three months along with her second child after undergoing a round of in vitro fertilization treatments.
Unfortunately, that is no longer the case: Angélil confirmed to the Journal de Montreal that the 41-year-old Canadian chanteuse is no longer in the family way, as the embryo transfers—which took place in August and October—were ultimately unsuccessful.
Angélil said that both they and their doctor "believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn't the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked."
But not deterred.
"We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use [IVF]," the 67-year-old hubby-manager said. "The process can be long and arduous.
"But today, we are full of confidence. Céline is more determined than ever."
In fact, the couple, who already has an 8-year-old son, René-Charles, is heading back to New York this weekend to see if the third time proves the charm.
"I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests.
"Céline and I didn't get discouraged…we put our faith in life and in the stars."

CELINE DION WITH EIGHT-YEAR-OLD EMBRYO

CELINE DION is pregnant with an embryo that was frozen for eight years, her fertility doctor has revealed.
The singer has revealed she is expecting her second child with husband Rene Angelil - a little brother or sister for the couple's eight-year-old son Rene-Charles.
And fertility specialist Dr. Zev Rosenwaks has revealed he implanted an embryo in the 41 year old's womb that had been frozen in liquid nitrogen since the in vitro fertilisation that helped her conceive Rene-Charles.
Dr. Rosenwaks tells People.com, "She came back to have the embryos transferred back because she wanted to have another baby."
And when the pregnancy test came back positive, she was thrilled.
The doctor adds, "She was very happy. So was Rene. They are both very thankful.
"She is feeling well. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. Rene and Celine are both looking forward to pregnancy that is a healthy one."

CELINE IS PREGNANT

DION PREGNANT - REPORT

Singing superstar CELINE DION is pregnant with her second child, according to a new report.
The Canadian star, 41, is already mum to eight-year-old Rene-Charles, her only child with husband Rene Angelil, 67.
The youngster was conceived after the couple underwent fertility treatment.
Dion and her husband are said to have employed the services of another team of fertility doctors in New York City to help the singer fulfil her dream of becoming a mother again, according to the Journal de Montreal.
Dion recently admitted she wanted to have another baby after she wrapped up her Taking Chances World Tour in February (09), telling talk show host Oprah Winfrey, "We are going to give it a try after my tour. Hopefully we (can get) pregnant again.
"I have a small window of hope. But we have been so blessed already. We tried six years for Rene-Charles. We have our miracle baby."
Angelil, Dion's former manager, has three children from two previous marriages.
A representative for Dion had not replied to a request for comment as WENN went to press.

JACKSON WAS PUT UNDER TOO MUCH PRESSURE'

CELINE DION has expressed her grief over the shocking death of MICHAEL JACKSON in a tearful tribute on U.S. TV - insisting the star was under too much pressure ahead of his comeback.
The My Heart Will Go on singer appeared on Late Night With Larry King to discuss the tragic news, after the Thriller hitmaker suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Thursday (25Jun09) - and Dion struggled to contain her emotions as she talked about her hero.
Dion grew up idolising the star and admits she is finding it difficult to cope with the news of his passing.
She says, "Michael Jackson's been an idol for me all my life. In my house when I was very, very young, and having his posters above my bedroom. He's been my idol all my life.
"It feels like when... when Kennedy died, when Elvis Presley died. It's a big loss. And I have to say that it's not even sinking in right now.
"I grew up with him. And through my (eight year old) son, I'm discovering his music again. He will never die. He will never, ever, ever die."
Dion last saw the superstar several months ago when he came to see her show in Las Vegas - and she admits his "fragile" appearance left her feeling concerned.
She has blamed the looming deadline of his comeback shows in London next month (Jul09) for putting an intolerable strain on his health.
The singer adds, "I think we all live under pressure differently. We live under pressure because we want to give the audience and the fans what they look for, what they expect. We want to do a better album. We want to do a better show.
"I think Michael Jackson lived under pressure all the time, since he's five years old - wanting to please his family and his fans and putting the bar so high that he needed to be suppressing his own self. If you don't have something like your family, your husband or your wife, your children - I mean he probably didn't have the balance."

Celine's Statement Concerning Michael Jackson's Death

Celine's Statement Concerning Michael Jackson's Death
I am so devastated by this terrible news. From the beginning of my career, he was my idol in show business. He was a genius and an incredible artist!! I remember when I was growing up and watching him on TV, and all his videos... I had his poster on my wall... he was so amazing... his singing, his writing, his dancing. We had the same record company, and they knew I was a huge fan, so when things started to happen for me, they arranged for us to meet. I was so nervous, and so excited at the same time, and Michael was so nice. He autographed one of his hats for me.... I was so thrilled. Years later, he came to see my Las Vegas show and we spent some time together... and we were really looking forward to seeing his show in London. It's unbelievable that he's no longer with us. It still hasn't sunk in. I guess we're just finding out what happened, but all I can say is that he must have been under an enormous amount of pressure... to do the shows, and to keep on top of everything, plus this was going to be his big comeback. This is a lot of pressure and it can be overwhelming for anyone. I'm sure it was just too much to handle. Right now, along millions and millions of others I am so sad... and I just want to send my prayers and love to Michael's family. I can't imagine how difficult this is for them... to lose someone so special. And it's the same for everyone in the world who loses a loved one. It just keeps reminding us of how precious life is, and that we never know when it's our time. God Bless his soul.

Celine Dion’s "Take a Kayak"

Full transcript of Celine Dion’s "Take a Kayak" on CNN with Larry King
One of the greatest moments in television history, indeed the greatest moment in the history of YouTube, is Celine Dion’s "Take a Kayak."
YouTube, in some sort of Canadian-whackjob-protection strategy, keeps taking down the "Take a Kayak" video. You can watch it here,

for now, until Dion’s goons take down that site. Watch it while you can, and record it for posterity.

In the interest of preserving the historical record in the face of the forces of darkness who would destroy it, following is a full transcript of Celine Dion’s "Take a Kayak," with my favorite lines in bold:

I’m waking up in the morning, I’m having a coffee, I barely can swallow it. I come here, at Caesar’s Palace every night, to perform. I barely can sing. But for respect, for the people who come, I am still singing.
When I come home at night, my son is waiting for me. I watch television. Yes, we gave a million dollar. But what we expect, what I want to look, like the rest of the world, I open the television. There’s people still there, waiting to be rescued, and for me it’s not acceptable. I know there’s reasons for it. I’m sorry to say I’m being rude, but I don’t wanna hear those reasons.

You know, some people are stealing and they’re making a big deal out of it. "Oh, they’re stealing twenty pair of jeans," or "they’re stealing television sets." Who cares? They’re not gonna go too far with it. Maybe those people are so poor, some of the people who do that, they’re so poor they’ve never touched anything in their lives. Let them touch those things for once!

The main thing right now, it’s not the people who are stealing, it’s the people who are left there, and they’re watching helicopsters flying over their heads, and they’re praying. How come it’s so easy to send planes in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives?

We need to serve our country, and for me to serve our country is to be there right now to rescue the rest of the people. We need the cash, we need the blood, we need the support, right now we need the prayers. It is — you know, when I was hearing a couple of days ago that these things are not reachable, it’s too full of water. Maybe I’m too much like my — I’m not thinking with my head. I’m talking with my heart. Nobody can open any roofs. The helicopters flying in. Take two people at a time. Take a kayak! Go into those walls.

There’s kids being raped at night. We hear gunshots, big guns, what’s that? Those people are praying, they’re walking, they’re like this: "Hello? Do you see us? We’re still alive. But we’re dying!"

It’s terrible. I do not want to talk to you about money.

(Q on talking to her son about it)

Well, I have to say that Renee Charles, yeah, Renee Charles knows because he sometimes watches televisions with me and I’m saying to him, "Those people went through a big storm and they will be fine," because I know at the end they’ll be fine, and I hope and I’m — we’re all praying for them. I’m trying not to put to Renee Charles something so dramatic and that’s why I’m sorry for crying so hard because I’m holding it for the last week.

And I’m trying to to tell my son that everything’s gonna be OK but I see those mothers over there, they’re like Cheese Whiz! You know, it’s awful.

(Q on donating a million dollars)

I understand it’s very important because eventually we will need that money. But it’s just very frustrating that Franco and Conscience West and me all bill one million dollar. This is one thing. In 3 months, in 6 months, they will need that money. Right now, they’re praying for water. So we need to send them the water. They don’t care about my check. So, it’s just frustrating because on our part of the world, we’re trying our best and we’re expecting those people — errrfffff!!!
—I’m sorry.

Dion's husband OK after heart work

Celine Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, has undergone a heart-related medical procedure, Dion's publicist confirmed Thursday.

The Palm Beach Post, quoting a source, said Angelil, 67, had arterial blockage.

Dion's Los Angeles-based publicist Kim Jackwerth e-mailed me Thursday, saying Angelil's procedure -- "not heart surgery" -- had been planned for months. "He's back home," Jackwerth said.

The Post noted that Angelil has acknowledged in past interviews that he suffered a near-fatal heart attack when he was 50. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999.

Dion, who left Caesars Palace in December 2007 after a highly successful five-year run, finished her world tour earlier this year and is reported to be planning to undergo in vitro fertilization again to have a second child.

They have a son, Rene-Charles, who turned 8 in January.

There are unconfirmed reports that Dion, whose No. 1 hit "My Heart Will Go On" was the theme of the blockbuster film "Titanic," plans to return to Caesars Palace in June 2010.

Report: Celine Dion returning to Vegas

12:29 PM PT, May 11 2009
The rumors began before she left. Celine Dion has proven to be the best draw to Vegas since Sinatra. And so, of course, most everyone assumed it was not if but when she would return to Caesars. Now, Robin Leach is reporting that Dion will resume a show at Caesars in June 2010.

There is a photo I saw from the time when Frank Sinatra played Caesars. It was of the marquee in front of the resort which read simply: "He's Here." Dion may never create a body of music as inexhaustible as Frank Sinatra, but she has proven to be as valuable to Caesars. Until the day he left, performing "The Red Piano", Elton John always referred to the room as Celine's palace, and I have no doubt if the marquee read "She's Back," all would know at once who was meant as the queen of the Colosseum.

I am looking into this story by writing the resort and the promoter of her previous show, "A New Day," and will report back to you.

Update: John Meglen, president of AEG Live and Concerts West, who promotes Dion's concerts as well as the venue at Caesars, writes in reply to my query with charming cheekiness: "... Yes, I can confirm that Robin is reporting it!........sorry.....no comment other than the normal...We Love Celine!"

CELINE DION - PAYS TRIBUTE TO GANS

CELINE DION has paid tribute to late entertainer DANNY GANS, calling the Las Vegas showman "the best in his field".
Gans died suddenly at his home in Sin City on Friday morning (01May09) and Dion is still reeling from the news her pal has passed away.
She says, "I'm very, very sad, and completely shocked to hear the news about Danny. (My husband) Rene and I have loved him very much since the first time we saw him and met him at the Rio (casino) in 1997.
"Not only was he the best in his field, but he was such a kind and loving person.
"About a month before my last show at Caesars Palace, Danny and his wife Julie, and their daughters came to see us. We talked and laughed for over an hour. I can't believe he's not with us anymore, and our heart goes out to his family. I wish them God's strength."
Meanwhile, Donny Osmond, whose Vegas show was produced by Gans, admits he's struggling to come to terms with the shock news.
He says, "I would call him for advice and direction regarding our show. We've lost an amazing entertainer. His friendship, charisma and talent will be greatly missed."

new song - 2009 - Acadian Driftwood (duet with Zachary Richard)

Ibumped into singer-songwriter and radio host Jim Corcoran at the launch party for Zachary Richard's Last Kiss Thursday evening at the Savoy club and we were talking about how we both did a bit of a double-take when we saw Céline Dion's name on the album credits. Let's just be polite and say it's not the most obvious concept to think of notre Céline nationale in a duet with rootsy Cajun auteur-compositeur Richard.

But you know what? Their version of Acadian Driftwood, the classic Robbie Robertson song about the Acadian people's forced exile down south to Richard's neck of the woods in Louisiana, is brilliant and deeply moving. By the time it climaxes with the two oh-so-different singers belting out the couplet "J'arrive, Acadie/J'ai le mal du pays," it's impossible not to be touched by the performance.

In a chat in his absurdly cramped dressing room Thursday - just before he took the stage for a passionate, but short unplugged set - Richard talked of how he hooked up with the superstar Québécoise songbird. Late last summer, Richard - who splits his time between his homes in Montreal and Louisiana - thought he had wrapped the album, his first English CD in 17 years, but then Dion changed his plans.

"I thought (the album) was over until August of last year when I sang with Céline on the Plaines d'Abraham, and inspired by the passion of the moment, I asked her if she wanted to do something and she said, 'yeah,' and that turned into another three months of work. I knew the girl had great pipes and she had a lot of soul, but I didn't know how she would do in my world, a more roots (world). We did this tune (at Dion's show on the Plains of Abraham) called La promesse cassée, which is something I wrote about Katrina, and then I understood that not only could she come in my world and be comfortable, but she could also rock in that style.

"Then I was knocking around, (wondering) what we could do. I mean my record was finished. And I've been playing Acadian Driftwood for at least 20 years, at the house, on the piano. I'm the biggest Robbie Robertson fan of all time. That song, which means a lot to me, being of Acadian heritage, is also about the possibility of creating a message of compassion and courage and forgiveness, which is, I think, at the heart of the Acadian story."

Last Kiss is Richard's first album in the language of Dylan since Snake Bite Love in 1992. In the years since then, Richard re-introduced himself to francophone fans on both sides of the Atlantic with a series of popular, critically acclaimed albums en français.

But as Richard was quick to point out during our conversation, he has always moved between the two languages in his oeuvre. His first album, High Time, was recorded for Electra Records in the early '70s, though it was a victim of record-company politics and only saw the light of day in 2000. That setback was part of the reason Richard segued into the franco world, recording seven albums in French in the late 1970s and '80s, a run that turned him into a well-known figure in both Quebec and France.

During his set at the Savoy Thursday, Richard showcased that bilingual/bicultural heritage by talking on stage mostly en français, singing the English songs from Last Kiss, and trying to explain his mixed roots to this mostly franco crowd.

"For the language-challenged, now I'm going to talk in that other language," he said, in English, adding: "I know it's sensitive, but part of me is proud to be American, particularly since November," a reference to the election of Barack Obama.

"There are kids in Manitoba who call themselves bilinguals," said Richard, in our chat before the show. "Not bilingual as an adjective, but bilingual as a noun. It's a mark of identity I understand really well coming from Louisiana and being able to navigate with a great deal of ease between the two languages.

"Here in Quebec, the first question I get is: 'Why an English record?' And I'm going - 'It's more surprising that I sing in French.' After all, I am an American and I come from Louisiana.

"It's never been a conscious decision. Through this fog will come a sound and I'll jump on that sound like a falcon on a pigeon - I'm going to get that thing. But that sound is

already in a language. It already sounds like a word in one of the two languages I speak. So I don't choose. There's no volition on my part."

John Barrowman - (captain jack harkness) A Celine fan :)

Shy, retiring and timid are not words you’d usually associate with John Barrowman, and that’s unlikely to change with his latest show.

The flamboyant performer, best known to most for his role as Captain Jack in Doctor Who and Torchwood, is presenting new BBC One series Tonight’s The Night.

The show’s premise is simple – people write in and ask for their dream to be made reality, then 42-year-old John and the team make it happen.

It might sound eerily similar to 80s hit show Jim’ll Fix It, but John is unfazed.

“I don’t mind any comparisons to shows like that because I was a huge fan of it, and shows like that are the ones I grew up with – so they’re the best of British television,” he says.

“But, we’re very different in the sense that if someone wants to write in and ask how to skid a bus, that’s not going to happen. However you might learn how to skid a bus while singing Summer Holiday with a team of dancers behind you, so there’s a twist to it. Everything is performance based. It’s not just about someone saying it’s my dream to go to Ibiza!”

The programme is all about giving deserving people a chance to shine – for example, someone who’s dreamed of being a ballroom dancer will get lessons before performing live on the show.

All-singing, dancing and acting John is a natural choice to present such a performance-based programme.

“I wanted to do a show like this,” he says.

“I’m a guy fortunate enough to be able to live my dreams, I am doing what I thought I’d be doing when I was a kid, so to be able to turn around and give other people their dreams and make theirs come true is a huge thing for me.”

Surprisingly though, John didn’t always dream of becoming a performer.

“At the age of nine I wanted to be an airline pilot,” he says.

“That’s when I realised I was gay because it was because I really liked the outfit, and the guy who was wearing it.”

With a change of heart a career in the performing arts beckoned, and John set off to make his dream a reality with the full support of his parents.

Even though they’re now living on the opposite sides of the Atlantic he says his mum and dad are still a big influence on his life.

“They’re my biggest fans, my mum and my dad.

“I speak to them almost every other day, sometimes every day. Last year they went on my concert tour with me, this year they’ll be doing the same thing. I see them about every three or four months, as I fly them over. They’ve come to all the West End shows I’ve been in except one and they’ve seen them between 13 and 26 times!”

John’s committed to continuing to make his parents proud and keep performing. He won’t be stepping aside to let others hog all the limelight on Tonight’s The Night.

“I’ll be challenged within the show itself by a mystery celebrity guest each week where my performance will be put to the test, for example in one show I’m challenged to juggle fire,” he explains.

John is keeping tight-lipped about the celebrity guests, but he reveals that Ronan Keating and The Saturdays will be helping make people’s dreams come true.

His own dream guest would be Canadian singer Celine Dion, but admits he’d probably “collapse with excitement” if she turned up.

“I really don’t know what song I’d do with her, but I’d just be so gob-smacked that she was there to sing with me I’d probably have to take something to calm me down.”

It’s not just the thought of doing a duet with Celine that makes John break into a sweat – despite his confident image he suffers terribly from nerves.

“I always get nervous – even when we’re recording these shows I’m a bundle of nerves before we go on because I’m a perfectionist and that’s to my own detriment. I always think about getting it right, doing it right and giving the best performance and that’s what makes me nervous.”

But it’s a small price to pay for doing what he loves – and it seems he’s not keen to give it up any time soon.

There’s a concert tour on the way, festival appearances, a third series of Torchwood and a potential return to Doctor Who.

“All I can say is that Captain Jack will return to help the doctor when he needs assistance or help with an alien or when someone’s trying to destroy the earth. That’s my official answer! You can read what you like into that one!”

John Barrowman – Extra Time

:: John and his partner Scott divide their time between London and Cardiff.

:: His pet dog appears in an episode of Tonight’s The Night when they’re surprising a vet.

:: John has no complaints about being a celebrity – he says he loves walking down the street and hearing people say ’that’s John Barrowman’.

:: While he was born and brought up in Scotland he and his family moved to the US when he was eight years old.

Does Celine Dion Go On With Plastic Surgery?

Posted on April 2nd, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Songstress Celine Dion turned 41 earlier this week and looks as good as she did when she first entered the US music scene back in the early 1990s. As most women in the spotlight that are her age have been under the knife, or at least the needle, at least once, Make Me Heal decided to investigate whether or not Celine stays young with some careful plastic surgery.

(Left: Before, Right: After)

Celine Dion is one of the music industry’s top earners and is notorious for sparing no expense on her creature comforts, whether it for the upkeep of her many homes around the world or her own impeccable wardrobe. Because half of a celebrity’s job is to look good, some of Celine’s money likely goes to taking care of her appearance, from personal trainers to tanning sessions. But given the fact that the high-note hitting performer looks good, if a little more mature than she used to, it seems that Celine’s nearly flawless appearance is the result of healthy living and good skincare, not plastic surgery.

Noting that Celine’s eyebrows have always been high, Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “I don’t think Celine has undergone any plastic surgery. She looks naturally good.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer agrees that Celine’s plastic surgery is minimal, saying, “Celine Dion looks great and does not look like she has had any major plastic surgery. She may have had Botox Cosmetic injections, since her forehead seems very smooth compared to previous pictures and her eyebrows are slightly wider apart when compared to previous. She obviously takes good care of her skin and should keep using whatever treatment she currently uses.”

On the other hand, Celine’s nose seems a little smaller than it did when she first began, which could be a conservative nose job, or better contouring make-up. Her eyelids also appear to be a little lifted, an indication of a possible eyelid lift.

According to plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden, “Celine Dion appears to have had a nicely done rhinoplasty and the possiblity of an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) in the past exists. Regardless, she looks radiant and well put together.”

Celine has always been thin and fit and likely spends time off-stage in the gym with a personal trainer. She also probably invests in the best skin products and takes care not to wear heavy make-up when offstage or off the red carpet. Celine probably routinely gets facials and skincare treatments to ward off aging and it has certainly worked for her.

Beyond some fine lines and softened look around her jowls and neck, Celine looks much the same as she did when America first fell in love with her.

Make Me Heal wishes Celine a happy birthday and commends her on looking well, with or without some careful plastic surgery.

Celine Dion says she’s ‘never been happier’ as she begins break

By Robin Leach · March 18, 2009 · 2:02 PM

Over Super Bowl weekend back in January, Vegas DeLuxe published an exclusive photo of superstar singer Celine Dion rubbing her tummy and indicating the beginning of a baby bump (click HERE for that photo and story). She was appearing in Florida
There’s been absolutely no confirmation from her camp about any pregnancy, but I can now reliably tell you that Celine has begun what she describes as an 18-month hiatus from all career activities!

Celine says her appearance on the Quebec TV reality show Star Academie was her final public performance for the next year and a half. Husband Rene Angelil, who also is Celine’s manager, told the contestants: “Don’t be intimidated -- and, remember, Celine started off by singing on television when she was only 13 years old.”

Immediately afterward, Celine made no secret of the fact in this week’s current Canadian edition of Hello! magazine that she plans another baby! The 40-year-old French-Canadian songbird revealed: “I’ve never been happier. I want to be more successful now as a mother than as a singer.”

Does that sound like a half-confirmation? A hesitant nod before a full announcement? Celine has never hidden the fact that she and Rene stored frozen eggs for an in-vitro pregnancy.

Celine had returned home to her hometown for three final Montreal concerts that ended her yearlong Taking Chances Tour. Now I can reveal that she will travel between her Lake Las Vegas home and settle at her huge Florida estate during the sabbatical or pregnancy if successful.

Plans are still being formulated for a return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for next year. “The welcome mat is always ready, and the door will always be open for her return at any time, “ Caesars President Gary Selesner has told me.

When Celine does return to the Strip, it won’t be under the same terms and conditions of her amazing five-year permanent residency when she performed her New Day show here. She would rotate with alternating weeks off with singers Bette Midler and Cher, who are booked there in three-year contracts.

Celine is still a top pop music attraction. As she ended her tour, she once again was in the top slot of highest-grossing concerts per Pollstar, who reported that she had an average box office gross per city of just under $2 million a night, with an average ticket of $106. Her next nearest competitor was AC/DC at $86 per ticket and an average haul per night of $1.5 million. In comparison, Motley Crue, led by Vegas’ own Vince Neil, debuted in the Top 20 with $50 ticket prices and a nightly gate of $364,076, while our hometown heroes The Killers were No. 13 with an average ticket price of $41 and a nightly take of $283,412.

Congratulations to Celine Dion on new pregnancy?

Congratulations to Celine Dion on new pregnancy?

In the same week that superstar singer Celine Dion celebrated the 8th birthday of her son Rene-Charles and the birthday of her husband Rene Angelil’s son Patrick, rumors that she’s pregnant again have started again. If true, congratulations are in order because Celine, now 40, always wanted a baby sister or brother for her son -- and admitted that, just as with him, she was attempting it with the same successful in vitro procedure she’d undertaken back in 2000.

The award-winning Canadian songbird, who lives here in Lake Las Vegas and will be returning to Caesars Palace next year for a new run of appearances, did little to dispel the baby talk last night in her Super Bowl concert tour appearance in Tampa, Fla.

As these exclusive photos from our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue show, Celine was even rubbing her tummy, beaming with pride as she pointed to it and giving a thumbs-up to two members of the audience during the standing ovation at the end of her show.

“She’s glowing with radiance. She’s so happy and just bubbling. You can tell she’s pregnant, even though she didn’t say anything,” one backstage visitor said.

Celine is winding down her yearlong world tour now. It’s become the second best-selling show behind Madonna,

with sales of nearly $250 million. Her concert in Miami last weekend set a new record with the highest attendance for a single concert at American Airlines Arena. From Feb. 9-15,

Celine wraps up her five hometown concerts in Montreal and Quebec City. Then she’s left with gigs in San Jose, Salt Lake City, Denver and the final Feb. 26 performance in Omaha.

Afterwards, she’s free and clear to rest up for the hoped-for pregnancy. Her 81-year-old mother Therese, who raised 14 children, is on the final legs of the world tour along with Rene Charles,

who celebrated his birthday Sunday -- and received a break from his on-tour home schooling. Patrick, who ran the “New Day’ production team in Vegas at Caesars Palace, celebrated his birthday yesterday.
After last night’s show, a happy and radiant Celine posed with visitors in Tampa for this weekend’s Super Bowl XLIII (43) between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.

Celine and Rene have always told me that they hoped to have a new child once the world tour came to an end. They’d even planned the time off in her schedule to make it work. Celine has said she would take a year off to rest and prepare for the birth in her Las Vegas and Florida homes; then she would return to The Colosseum to alternate contract runs with Bette Midler and Cher.

We hope the pregnancy rumors are true, and we wish Celine and Rene all best wishes. Everybody at Vegas DeLuxe sends congratulations in the hope that Celine’s three-year-long dream finally comes true again!

Céline Dion's alleged stalker, a pizza delivery man with no criminal record, will have to spend another two weeks in a psychiatric institute.

Yvan Jolin was in Laval court for about a minute, enough time to set his next court date for early next month. The baby-faced 41-year-old, his short light brown hair sticking up and all out of place. appeared calm, smiling and waving at his sister in the courtroom.

Jolin will be spending another two weeks under a psychiatrist's microscope, to see if he was criminally responsible when he allegedly kept ringing up the intercom at Dion's mansion on Île Gagnon in Laval a month ago, and then getting past the first of two gates. Police found a stockpile of items in his car including a hatchet. Officers add this wasn't the first time he's hung around the house and tried to reach Dion.

Jolin's sister ran off once she found out a reporter was asking questions about her brother's alleged harassment of Dion.

Jolin is a pizza delivery man with no criminal record. He was living in a rooming house in Laval-des-Rapides.

Jolin pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering, harassment and possession of a weapon for dangerous intent.

last night's tv party

Wilson On "Colbert" On Celine

James Franco's name-check of Carl Wilson's ode to Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love on the Oscars' red carpet was an unexpected brush with the mainstream for Wilson's tome, not to mention the 33 1/3 "book-an-album" series. Las night, Wilson appeared on The Colbert Report to discuss his book, which I am anxious to squeeze into my heavy work schedule of writing one day a week, typing my grandpa's memoirs, thinking about starting to finish my final portfolio, and playing Fable II on my Xbox 360.

Not only did Wilson get to go on TV, he got the privilege of appearing on one of the funniest shows ever. Wilson acquits himself nicely, though an early mention of repulsion at Dion's music is the type of thing that Colbert feeds off and keeps coming back to. The best part is Wilson's mention of Dion's treatment of crew and fans as a family (including the hiring of her family to work for her) and how they see her as very "real," while outsiders think of her as "phony." This scans with someone who had worked with Dion grousing at me for dissing her offhandedly; the person said that she treated her crew and backing musicians like family, paying them well, and that she was never anything less than courteous and even had a really goofball sense of humor.

The interview ends a tad abruptly, though Wilson's observation on the problem with liking something ironically is worthy of further thought. Colbert asks if Wilson, as a hipster critic, shouldn't like Celine Dion ironically. Wilson, decrying sarcastic views of taste, says, "The problem with taste is that we turn the people behind artworks into stereotypes." Boy... uh, I've, uh, never done that before.

Also, Colbert invented a band name: Ogre Milk. Look for a band named in honor of this joke to be all over the blogs by the time SXSW is over.

THE SHOW

A NEW DAY... is a spectacle created for, with and about Celine Dion. Dragone continues to assemble an all-star production team that includes
Lighting Designer Yves Aucoin, Associate Director Pavel V. Brun, Set Designer Michel Crête, Projection Content Designer Dirk Decloedt, Musical Director Claude (Mégo) Lemay, Costume Designer Dominique Lemieux, Choreographer Mia Michaels, Sound Designer Denis Savage.

A NEW DAY... features the largest indoor LED screen in North America. Dragone uses the screen to evoke the mood within the music and create an environment that transcends the usual physical limitations of theatrical productions. With lighting, projected images, traditional props and remarkably sharp three-dimensionnal screen graphics, the set for A NEW DAY... places Céline, the performers and, indeed, the audience in European town squares, great city centers, picturesque antique temples and starry sky-scapes.

"Our goal with this project is to create a spectacle like no other - a fusion of song, theatre, dance and technical innovation" said Franco Dragone. "I see Celine as a satellite who captures images. She will use the stage to create her own universe and share it intimately with the audience. A NEW DAY… will expose Celine’s immense talent in a new art form. We hope to heighten and intensify the senses so that each spectator leaves the show 'seeing' more than they did the day before…" Dragone added.
"Our purpose is to reveal the words behind the words."
"Let us create a piece of exception, one of these fragile and suspended in the time moments, during which we can touch the deep soul of the world."
The spectacle will last only one hour and thirty : "It is the standard in Las Vegas, explains Céline, because the hotelkeepers who offer spectacles also want that people go to eat in the restaurant... "

"My home, it is where I meet myself with my husband, my son, those who I love. The place where I was born, my roots, it is Quebec, but roots grow and they can go very far. So, in Las Vegas, we built a house rather 'cosy' with 3 bedrooms. My parents will stay there several months."
"Can you imagine? Céline grins, my son is going to be at home. I'll leave in the afternoon around 5, do my show five nights a week, come in my own bed. No travel. Oh, yeah. Oh yeah!"
Performances of A NEW DAY... will be presented 200 evenings a year, Wednesday through Sunday, at 8:30 p.m.
Regular ticket prices are US$87.50, US$127.50, US$150.00 and US$200.00.

THE TITLE AND THE VISUAL

The show name was the subject of controversy in last October, 2002, when British rock act Muse posted a message on its official Web site saying it had refused offers by the producers to use the word Muse in the show's title.

Paul Farberman, a lawyer representing Dion, tells Billboard.com that Celine Dion Muse was only one of the titles being considered for the show:
"We were talking to them to try to work it out, but they made unrealistic demands to get the clearance," he says. "Once negotiations broke off, we didn't feel comfortable with it and decided to go with another name."

And finally the spectacle is called A New Day... logically after her album A New Day Has Come released in March, 2002.
Designed by Marie-Josée Gravel of Triplex communications, the A NEW DAY… visual took its inspiration from Celine and the Dragone creators’ vision for the show.

"At the heart of the illustration is a mouth - lips formed by the suggested pulse of a heartbeat, vocal chords, the vibrations of an instrument. We discover an image of Celine that is grand and pure in its simplicity. The silhouette evokes a force, a passion, a fragility. Celine emerges from amongst the brilliant lights of Las Vegas. Her rhythm is internal… she is listening, watching."

Céline Dion was moved by the final result of the visual:
"For me, this image represents the moment in music when all instruments are in harmony - a strong and intense moment. I see a heartbeat in the fire of the desert, a soft but powerful feeling in the center of Las Vegas, the city of lights and passions. I see my old self to the left, the new to the right. This show marks a turning point in my personal journey. It will guide me to self-discovery, to push the limits of performance and offer a new stage experience to my devoted fans..."

It is in La Louvière (Belgium, 30 miles south of Brussels), on June 24, 2002, that the rehearsals of the show start in fitted out studios by the company Dragone, first with 60 artists. Céline Dion comes on October 17, 2002 and the rehearsals go on until November 15, 2002.

Why La Louvière?
"It is true that in La Louvière, tells Dragone, we have handicaps which we would not have somewhere else, in terms of activities and hotel infrastructures. Nevertheless, this allows to the artists to concentrate on the show. They have nothing to distract themselves, and it generates a certain introspective quality. "

As for Céline : "What I want it is to be with Franco, with the team, she says. I would have followed him wherever, even up to Mouk Mouk islands."
"La Louvière is going to offer me a present, is going to give me the chance to rediscover me myself, Céline says. For the first time in my career, I am going to be able to take time, surrounded well, to exclusively dedicate me to the show. I long to go there, to work there, to live there, with my family. It is a new experience. I attach it a big importance."
"I've just arrived in Belgium and I'm so surprised by this warm welcome. I'm a bit tired, but happy to be here for a month. I was never worried... The house to Bousval (22 miles southeast of Brussels) is magnificent, my family likes it. We have a swimming pool, it is the big luxury. From our arrival, my son hurried to run through the house. We feel at home."

As for the 58 selected artists for the show, they were chosen after castings in Amsterdam, La Louvière, Londres, Paris, Montréal, Las Vegas, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. More than 4000 candidates proposed their services for this show; finally, 1500 'performers' were auditioned.
The rehearsals include dance, aerial, vocal, percussion, acrobatic and theatrical workshops. Franco Dragone has begun to gather a who’s-who of internationally renowned multi-disciplined artists to develop the essence of the show. "With Franco, Céline tells, I can finally take time. I have never had the chance to put cards on table and to try, to put me to bare; I find myself. Here, in La Louvière, we are going to manage to surpass ourselves ".

"Here, Franco adds, Céline concentrates on the spectacle. We listen and, together, everything takes a sense. She is our source of inspiration..."

Furthermore, the rehearsals for Céline, are not specially vocal, but especially physics: she follows a physical training, every morning; she attends workshops, with the artists. Céline passes in the hands of the make-up women, so that they realize a moulding of her head for the preparation of hats; between the fingers of the wardrobe master... "We do not make the show in La Louvière. We buy vegetables here to simmer the soup of Las Vegas ", Franco Dragone summarizes funnily.
