Céline Dion Gives Birth to Healthy Twin Boys

Céline Dion is a mom again – times two!

The singer gave birth to fraternal twin boys on Saturday at a Florida hospital at 11:11 a.m. and 11:12 a.m., her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"Celine, René and their son René-Charles are thrilled," says her rep.

One of the boys weighed in at 5 lbs., 4 oz., with the other at 5 lbs., 10 oz.

The twins are healthy, says her rep, but will spend the next few days in an incubator because they were born premature.

"Celine is resting now and they plan to discuss what to name the boys when she wakes up," the rep adds. "René-Charles has been to the hospital to visit his brothers and is just so excited they are here."

Céline Dion Enters Hospital

Céline Dion Enters Hospital
By Stephen M. Silverman

Monday October 18, 2010 09:25 AM EDT
Céline Dion is preparing for the birth of her twin boys by checking into the hospital on the advice of her physicians, the singer's rep confirms to PEOPLE.

In a statement issued Monday morning, the hospital says, "Ms. Céline Dion has been admitted to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida for observation at the recommendation of her doctors. She has been admitted to prevent the early delivery of her babies, which is the standard of care for any patient with twin pregnancy in this clinical setting."

The statement makes clear this is a preventive measure, "done to ensure the patient can be in close contact with their doctors and clinical resources, leading up to their birth," it says.

Last week, Dion's husband, René Angélil, told PEOPLE that, contrary to reports, his wife had not scheduled a C-section to deliver her twins on Oct. 22 – nor had she made outrageous demands of the hospital.

"There is nothing scheduled," he said. "We do not have a date" for the babies' birth.

Backs Husband's Statement

St. Mary's reiterated Angélil's statement, saying: "Céline and René have placed the health of their babies as their highest priority. Recently, rumors have circulated that Ms. Dion has made certain demands of St. Mary's Medical Center regarding the birth of her children. All of these rumors are false."

The hospital statement continued: "At no time did Ms. Dion or her husband make any special demands or requests of the hospital. She is not scheduled at any predetermined date for her delivery She has not requested or selected any particular staff or accommodations not available to other patients The patient is being treated as any other OB patient who comes to St. Mary’s Medical Center."

The medical facility also noted, "Although the family did not ask us to do so, the hospital has chosen to enhance our security efforts during this time for the convenience and safety of all our patients and their families within this same area of our facility."

In closing, the hospital said, "We look forward to the day of Ms. Dion's delivery of her twins. During this time, we ask the public and the media respect the privacy of all of our patients and their families at our hospital."

Celine Dion to have twins at St. Mary’s; Two tiny beds set aside

The nursing staff at West Palm Beach’s St. Mary’s Medical Center is abuzz this week with news that Canadian diva Celine Dion will have her twin boys at the facility sometime over the next six weeks.

Rene Angelil, was spotted touring the medical center’s maternity area with two of the center’s top administrators. Called The Birthplace, it boasts newly renovated delivery suites and an infant intensive care unit.

What raised staff eyebrows: Angelil requested, and it was approved, that two infant beds be set aside and are not used until Dion’s twins are laid in them!

Celine has not been seen in public for several months of what is believed to be a tough pregnancy.

After emergency truck and an ambulance were spotted at her Jupiter Island place last month, rumors flew that she was taken to a local hospital for surgery to prevent the twins from being born early. Her publicist denied there was a surgery and emergency personal said they were just there to make sure their equipment could roll from A1A to her front door.

Find Out Celine Dion's Secret to a Happy Marriage

Oui, oui! Yep, Celine Dion is pregnant with twins after five failed attempts via in vitro. But that's not the only thing the French-Canadian chanteuse, 42, has to sing about these days. Besides releasing her new expanded version of her documentary, Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World, and the live disc set Taking Chances World Tour: The Concert, she told me that she's also moving into a new mega-mansion on Jupiter Island, Fla., and celebrating 16 years of marriage to manager Rene Angelil, 68 (he's also dad to their nine-year-old son, Rene Charles!).

I asked Celine how she's made it work for so long and she said it hasn't always been easy. See below for her secrets!

UsMagazine.com: One of the things that is so inspiring is your love with Rene. How have you been able to keep it so strong?

Celine Dion: You know, it's hard, it's not always very easy. You see a lot of people divorcing and all of that is extremely sad because [marriage] is one of the challenges that life exposes to you. The first few years are beautiful and pink and all of that, but you [have to] make sure that you are strong enough and you are growing. Like being a parent, if you think that the "terrible twos" are difficult, wait till [your kids] are 13 and 16 -- that's another challenge. Maybe six years ago, Rene and I were having a lot of tension -- [our marriage was] a lot of hard work. I had a tendency in the past to kind of keep everything to myself and not really talk about it anad try to wait that it is going to go away. But it never goes away just actively.

Us: What do you mean?

CD: Communication is the key. Instead of [asking] 'why didn't you call me?,' I found a way to say things like 'I was so worried, I missed your call, I would have loved for you to have called me because I miss you so much.' Or, 'I wish you would have been home today because so many wonderful things happened, we thought of you so much and we missed you.' For me what works is not the "you" but the "I" and I tell [Rene] what I want and it works. I just have to tell him what would have been better for all of us maybe or just given it a try but communication [is key].

Us: That's so smart, such great advice. You should write a book in your downtime.

CD: We try. It's not easy. It's always challenging but that's what makes marriage strong. Challenges will always happen, different things happen in life. It's up to you to show your commitment to your marriage if you are willing to do it for life. Everybody goes through different little things and for some people it is very hard -- the money issue and all of that stuff makes a lot of tension.

Us: Well, you have a lot of humor too and I think joking with him all of the time helps too.

CD: Everybody needs a little humor here and there -- I guess that sometimes brings the tension down.

Celine Dion: attrition had become pregnant

Celine Dion is over the moon now that she is pregnant with twins. She went through them as many as six IVF attempts and that was for her "physically and emotionally exhausting."

'I feel like I have more than one year'm pregnant. I never gave up. It was a real war of attrition, "said Dion, who has a nine year old son with her husband and manager Rene Angélil (68).

"I do almost nothing. If the doctor tells me in bed, I stay in bed until November, until the babies there. There's nothing like those kids now," she says in Le Journal de Montreal.

It hurt me to hide my love from the world; Celine Dion tells of years of heartache ove r her secret affair.

Her songs provided mood music for lovers around the world.

But the depth of feeling with which Celine Dion invested every word was the only clue to her heartache.

For as she sang torch songs for lovers and loners the waif-like French Canadian carried a heavy load.

She could not share the joy of her own clandestine romance with a man old enough to be her father.
Her affair with manager Rene Angelil, married and 26 years her senior, remained a closely-kept secret for seven years.

The couple met when Celine was 12 and Rene was 38. By the time she was 19 they had become lovers.

They were afraid that the least whiff of scandal would destroy Celine's blossoming career and cause deep hurt to Rene's wife and three children.

"It was so difficult not to be able to share simple things, like walking hand-in-hand or exchanging a kiss in front of people," she says.

"Interviewers were always asking about my boyfriends. I had to tell them I didn't have any.

"We didn't want the music business to know about us. I wasn't sure how his children would react to the news of our love. I'd grown up with them all and didn't want to lose their friendship.

"But then Rene got divorced and I realised we were meant for each other."

The knowledge that she wanted to commit the rest of her life to Rene settled on Celine after the success of her recording of When I Fall in Love
used as theme to the 1993 movie weepie Sleepless In Seattle.

She decided to tell all in a footnote on the sleeve of her 1994 album The Colour of My Love.

Twelve million fans who bought the record were able to read her simple declaration of love. "Rene, for so many years I have kept our special dream locked away inside my heart but now it is getting too powerful to keep inside me anymore. Rene, you are the colour of my love."

He needed no second invitation. Old enough to be her father, Rene had long been deeply smitten
by Celine's vulnerability and strength.

Reports have it that he burst into tears when, chaperoned by her mum, the sweet-voiced 12-year-old first sang for him.

But he had enough foresight and faith in her ability to gamble all on her success and, in fact, mortgaged his house to finance the recording of her first album.

They married two years ago in a fairytale ceremony in Montreal attended by Celine's family, including her 13 brothers and sisters.

After the wedding she said: "I'm so happy. I can shout my love from the rooftops. It's a wonderful feeling."

Now 28, Celine hides a second concern. "I realise I may not be able to have a family with Rene," she says.

"But if we can't have children of our own, there are plenty in the world who need and love affection."

She joked: "Anyway, I've been enjoying the practice. And I wouldn't be without Rene for the world."

It is a partnership that has paid off handsomely and, in the process, made husband and wife millionaires.

By the time she was 18, Celine had released nine albums, all in French. Her name on the bill guaranteed a sell-out in any Montreal concert hall.

Now she can do the same in venues around the world. Her record company see her as successor to Barbra Streisand
and Whitney Houston.

Irish audiences can judge for themselves tonight and tomorrow at the Point Theatre. Dublin is second home to Celine.

It was there she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 with Don't Leave Without Me.

Life now is an endless round of private jets, stretch limos and hotel suites.

Days as a five-year-old singing with the Dion family group are now a dim and distant memory to be dusted off occasionally and with care to remind herself of whence she came.

"I must have slept on the floor of every dance hall in Quebec," she says. "Dad played the accordion, mum the violin, and I slept under mum's coat."

As it is, home life is still far from normal. She owns two houses in Montreal, but has hardly set foot in them this year.

When her current world tour ends in Asia early next year, she plans to retreat to Florida for a year's rest.

"It'll be good, but I know there will be withdrawal symptoms

. After I've done all the cleaning and cooked the leftovers in the fridge, I'm going to start thinking about performing again.

"I see my job as providing an audience with dreams. Like when you see a beautiful movie. Even if people say `hey, that's not real life', wouldn't it be fantastic if it was?"

Celine Dion has signed up for a new three year residency in Las Vegas.
The 'Think Twice' singer will perform 70 shows a year for the next three years, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace after signing a multi-million dollar deal.
Celine said: "It's happening! Great songs, great lyrics. I think it's going to be very touching."
The Canadian songstress will be backed by 31 musicians for the shows, which include a special section where she performs songs from people's favourite movies.
Celine added the set will feature: "All the songs from my repertoire that people want to hear, And I just love the big orchestra and the beautiful black-and-white movies and romance."
Celine most recently finished a five year run of shows at the same venue in 2007.
The singer's announcement comes a day after Barbra Streisland turned down a £100 million offer to appear in the desert city.
Celine said she is to juggle the performances with caring for her 9-year-old son Rene-Charles by her husband and manager Rene Angelil, and the couple are presently trying to get pregnant for a second baby.

The 'My Heart Will Go On' singer will start the residency in March next year.

CELINE OVERWHELMED BY GRAMMYS JACKSON TRIBUTE

CELINE DION was honoured to be part of the MICHAEL JACKSON tribute at the Grammy Awards - because she dreamed of performing with the King of Pop as a child.

The Canadian singer admits her love for the Thriller hitmaker drove her to perfect her English, just in case she got to chance to team up with her idol - and performing with his voice at the Grammys was an overwhelming experience.

Dion joined Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson for an emotional, show-stopping tribute to the late star - the quintet performed Jackson's Earth Song as the video to the song was shown in 3-D on a massive screen behind them.

And the I Drove All Night singer admits it was a "difficult" performance for her because she wanted Jackson to be there.
She says, "I was mad that he (Jackson) was no longer with us and I wanted so much to make sure that his message... was going to be heard.
"All of us, we didn't really want to perform; we just wanted to carry his message. I was very honoured that I was part of it. I will always love Michael Jackson very much."
And Dion admits the King of Pop's concert rehearsal film This Is It enraged her - because it made her realise she'll never get the chance to see the actual show. Jackson died a month before his comeback concerts in London were due to start.
She adds, "I thought at one point that Michael was sick and I said, 'Y'know, it's not fair to go through this, being sick like that,' but when I saw the movie I was very mad because he was in top shape and I was very mad that he was no longer with us."

CELINE PLANS SPECIAL KEEPSAKE TREAT FOR SON

CELINE DION has special plans to turn her son RENE CHARLES' collection of leaves and flowers into keepsake jewellery after learning about a group of Quebec, Canada nuns who have perfected the art of drying dead foliage and turning it into rosary beads.
The singer first came across the nuns when she was trying to find something to do with the flowers people sent to her when her father died - and that has given her the idea to turn her son's boxes of stuff into something extraordinary.
She explains, "When my dad passed away people sent a lot of flowers and we were very touched by that and then it's a shame... because you put the flowers (on display) and then they die and then that's it.
"But, in the province of Quebec, I've learned that there's... nuns, who are having a technique (sic); they take the flowers that you have received... they make it dry... they make rosary beads with (them).
"And my whole family received rosary beads made of the flowers that people gave to my dad.
"I don't know when I'm gonna do... this, but eventually I will make something for my son... to say, 'Everything that you have given papa tu mama (sic), here it is.'"
Dion appeared on America's Oprah Winfrey show on Wednesday (10Feb10) and talked about her special relationship with her only child, who had filmed a special video for the singer.
A thrilled Dion told host Winfrey that her current five-day promotional trip was the longest time she had spent away from her son.

CELINE RETURNING TO VEGAS

DION RETURNING TO VEGAS

CELINE DION has signed a multi-million dollar deal to return to Las Vegas - the singer will begin a new three-year residency in 2011.
The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker previously performed in Sin City between 2003 and 2007, with her A New Day... show playing to more than three million fans and grossing more than $400 million (£250 million).
Dion wrapped up the concerts at the end of 2007 before embarking on her Taking Chances World Tour which finished last year (09).
She's now confirmed she will be heading back to Las Vegas to launch her new performance at the Caesars Palace theatre, which was originally built for her A New Day... shows.
The three-year contract will see Dion perform 70 shows a year and will kick off on 15 March 2011.
Dion's husband Rene Angelil, says. "We're very happy to return to the Las Vegas stage. The schedule will be human for Celine, to avoid tiring her out. This second show in Las Vegas will be as amazing as the first adventure, with A New Day..."
The news of Dion's return to Las Vegas comes just a day after superstar Barbra Streisand reportedly turned down a massive $100 million (£62.5 million) offer to take up a Sin City residency.
